Check this before ordering a recording

The carriers below document recording a greeting through a voicemail menu or app. These instructions do not confirm direct MP3 uploads. A Meldstem download does not automatically replace your greeting.

  2. For first-time setup, choose a language, create your voicemail password and complete the prompts. For an existing mailbox, use the greeting controls in your voicemail menu or the device-specific Visual Voicemail instructions.

Using an existing recording

  1. Open the option to record a personal greeting. First check that your carrier allows it and that the result is understandable.
  2. To try playing a file from a second device, use a quiet room, place the speaker near the microphone and start playback only when the voicemail menu is recording.
  3. Listen back before saving. Re-recording can reduce sound quality. If the result is unclear, record the script yourself or discuss a business phone system with your administrator.

iPhone, Android and dual SIM

Your voicemail app and carrier’s voice menu can differ. On iPhone, Live Voicemail may answer on the device, while your carrier answers when the phone is switched off. Check both greetings. With dual SIM, select the correct business line first.

Test the caller’s experience

Call from another phone: first let it ring, then test with the business phone switched off. Check the script, volume and whether callers can leave a message.

Carrier not listed?

Use the instructions for your own plan. A reseller may use different numbers and menus from its host network. Do not use these access numbers as call-forwarding codes; international access and charges may differ.
