In the workshop, hands do not leave the car for a ringing phone. A good greeting keeps the customer engaged until you can call back.
Ask callers to leave their registration plate: that way you can pull up the file before calling back. And mention drop-off and pick-up times, because half the calls are about those.

“Welcome to [name] motors. We are currently closed. The workshop is open on weekdays from [time] to [time] and on Saturdays from [time] to [time]. Feel free to leave a message with your registration plate and we will call you back on the next business day.”
Voicemail
“You have reached the voicemail of [name] motors. Leave your name, number and registration plate and briefly tell us what is going on, and we will call you back as soon as our hands are clean.”
